We provide evocative and atmospheric music tailored to your occasion. Named for the Carvetii Tribe of ancient Cumbria, our specialties are early music, madrigals and contemporary repertoire. About Us

Sarah Wallcook

Following her studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, mezzo-soprano Sarah Wallcook moved to New Zealand to study and practice vocal pedagogy alongside a busy schedule on the operatic and concert stage. Career highlights include a public televised masterclass with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Frederica von Stade, taking the title role for Opera Factory in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges and appearing as Cherubino in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro

Within Cumbria, Sarah performs regularly for choral societies, in recital with pianist Julia Cobby and records with jazz pianist and composer Jilly Jarman. Sarah is well known for her singing work with schools, community groups and in the health sector. Her latest venture is running Trellis Arts with theatre practitioner, Jeff Wallcook; a new company that nurtures passion and potential in the performing arts. Together with the Kirkgate Arts Centre, they will be producing a new version of the Beggar's Opera with a mixed team of professionals and community in Cockermouth, April.


Clare Eccles

Clare Eccles is a classically-trained soprano currently based in the Lake Distrcit. She studied a Bachelor of Music in Singing Performance at Leeds University and at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, Germany. Clare enjoys singing a range of music from chamber music with Leeds-based group ‘Adhoc Baroque’ through to Gilbert and Sullivan roles. Clare’s most recent role was with the Leeds Gilbert and Sullivan Society as ‘Aline’ in ‘The Sorcerer’. Other previous performances have included recitals at Ripon Cathedral and several operatic roles with the Leeds University Opera Society such as Mabel, Cherubino, Elsie and Zerlina. Clare currently teaches singing in a variety of settings in Cumbria and continues to perform in Cumbria and Yorkshire.


Ella Jarman-Pinto

Ella Jarman-Pinto is a Cumbria-based composer and vocalist, and a RPS Young Musician. She graduated from studying composition with Julian Philips and Paul Newland at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2011. In March 2013, Ella was commissioned by the Royal Philharmonic Society as part of its 200th Anniversary celebrations. The resulting piece, A Domani, People. A Domani, was premiered at the Barbican on 1st November 2013 in the Guildhall Artists pre-concert performance. A selection of other performances of Ella’s work have taken place at venues such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall (London Sinfonietta, as part of Nancarrow ‘Stings’ Competition, 2011), The Roundhouse (Young Persons Concert Orchestra, 2011), the City of London Festival (part of ‘Where the Wildflowers Are’, 2012), Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Italian Cultural Institute. I Remember. Like I’m the Only, written for Kew Wind Orchestra as part of the Adopt-a-Composer scheme, was the subject of a short programme on BBC Radio 3 broadcast in January 2013.

Ella is the founder of Eden Contemporary Music in Cumbria and also works with BlueJam Arts providing music tuition in Cumbrian schools.
